There is a solution! The Twisted Single Crochet!
The Twisted single crochet - an alternative to the crab stitch

The twisted single crochet it is a crochet stitch that i learned watching a video file on the Japanese site Gosyo.
Do not be confounded with the crab stitch/reverse single crochet! There are 2 different stitches!
Both of them (twisted sc and reverse sc) are used as crochet edgings and give your crochet piece the same look, but the way of working it is different:
-for the twisted sc the stitches are worked from the right to the left;
-for the reverse sc/crab stitch the stitches are worked from the left to the right;
Here are my Written Instructions for the Twisted Single Crochet (tw sc):
1) Insert the hook from front to back in the next stitch to the left!
2) Yarn over, draw the yarn through the stitch; you have now 2 loops on the hook (make them loose)
To see the pictures bigger, all you have to do is click on them.
3) Leaving the 2 loops on the hook loosely, rotate the hook anticlockwise 360 degrees.

Try to work the stitches even, having the same tension for each stitch. It takes a little practice, but after a while you will get the hang of it and make a nice crochet border.

I wanted to watch the video but it was not working..this seems neat..I will have to give it a go sometime..would give a flatter look to a row that is the last one..boarder I guess you could say.

Do you mean turn the hook 180 degrees? 360 is a full turn. I like stitch better tthan the crab stitch, I can't crochet left to right!

DeleteI like this stitch however, it seems like a lot more work twisting each stitch completely around. I'll give it a go because the crab stitch eludes me.
