STITCHES AND ABBREVIATIONS (US TERMS) :

- magic ring

- ch: chain

- sc: single crochet

- bpsc: back post single crochet

- dc: double crochet

- sk: skip

- sl st : slip stitch

- shell: (2dc, 1ch, 2dc) into same stitch

- csdc: Chainless Starting Double Crochet ( See the Video Tutorial by Moogly)
(Alternative you can use the traditional ch 3 at the beginning of the round.)

- invisible fasten off - See the Tutorial by Petals to Picot.

NOTES:

  1. I have first worked the pattern for the model B using one strand of yarn and a much smaller hook size as for the yarn indicated, but I didn't achieved the stiffness needed, so for the model A I have tried with 2 strands of yarn held together and the hook size indicated for one strand of yarn. The result is much better!
  2. Work the baskets and the handles with 2 strands of yarn held together!!
  3. For the bottom start each round with ch 1 tight, that will not be counted as a stitch and end the rounds with sl st into top of first sc.
  4. For the sides, start each round with a chainless starting double crochet or as alternative you can start with ch 3, that will be counted as the first st.
  5. The rounds will end with a slip stitch made into top of the csdc or alternative into top of beginning ch3.
  6. For a visual of the pattern stitch used for the sides, check out the step by step image tutorial from my pattern Hypnotic Heart Cowl. The only difference is that the cowl is worked using 3 colors

The Handle for model A:

Change to hook size 4 mm.

From now on the handle will be worked with sc stitches in the round in a continuous spiral (without joining with sl st at the end of each round) until your reach the desired length. My handle measures 30 cm. Cut yarn and fasten off invisibly.
Sew the handle on the inside of the basket at the base of a shell of last round, leaving three shells between the sides.

I love these beautiful Easter baskets made by my friend Jackie of Healing Yarns! So pretty, aren't they?
