Most people, when they set out to buy yarn, have a specific pattern that they're buying it for. Not me. I buy my yarn and then try and find a pattern for it! I tend to lean toward yarn that has varying colors in it, but sometimes it's hard to find a pattern that works well with colorful yarns, ones where the pattern doesn't get lost in the colors. So I thought it would be fun to make a cowl that has an interesting stitch pattern, but also showcases the varying shades of yarn really well.
