I have left the second layer of petals from the Dahlia Scrubby out and added additional decrease rounds to give it a nice 3D shape.
The yarn was provided by Red Heart Yarns.
3D Flower Scrubby - Free Crochet Pattern
FINISHED SIZE: 3.14” (8 cm) diameter
SUPPLIES:
- Scrubby Sparkle by Red Heart Yarns (you’ll get lots of small 3D Flower Scrubbies from one skein of yarn!)
- Crochet hook, Size H, 5mm
- Yarn needle to sew in the ends
- Scissors
INSTRUCTIONS:
(Note: The first 3 rounds of the pattern are practically identical to the ones of the Dahlia Palm Scrubby.)
Make a magic ring.
Round 1 (flower center): work 12 dc into ring, sl st to top of first dc. (12 sts) Pull yarn end tight to close the magic ring.
Round 2: (petals): ch3, work dtr5tog in next dc, ch3, *slst into next dc, ch 3, dtr5tog in next dc, ch 3*, repeat from * to * 5 times, ending with a slst in the same st as the ch3 at the beg of round.
(6 petals made)
Round 3: Ch 1, work 2 hdc into first ch 3 space of the first petal, 2 hdc into second ch 3 space of first petal, *2 hdc into first ch3 space of the next petal, 2 hdc into second ch 3 space of next petal*, repeat from * to* around for all next petals; slst to top of first hdc. (24 hdc)
Begin decrease rounds:
Round 4: ch1, 1 hdc in first st, hdc2tog, * 1 hdc in next st, hdc2tog, repeat from * around, join with sl st to top of first hdc. ( 16 sts)
Cut yarn leaving a tail that will be used for closing the hole. Fasten off.
Tip: To give more volum to your flower scrubby, before closing the hole, you can fill it with Scrubby Sparkle yarn.
Thread yarn needle with the yarn tail and weave yarn through ends of last round; pull the yarn tight to close the hole. Secure by weaving the yarn through for a few more times, then fasten off, hiding the yarn end inside the flower scrubby.

STITCHES, TERMS (US) and ABBREVIATIONS:
Magic ring
ch: chain
hdc: half double crochet
Dc: double crochet
Yo: yarn over hook
Dtr: double treble crochet: Yo hook 3 times, insert crochet hook in st, yo, draw lp through, [yo, draw through 2 lps on hook] 4 times.
Special stitches used:
1) hdc2tog = half double crochet 2 together, or half double crochet decrease:
yo, insert the hook into the next stitch,
yo and pull it through the stitch; You should now have 3 loops on your hook;
Insert the hook into the next stitch, yo and pull it through the stitch; you should now have 4 loops on your hook; Yo and pull through all 4 loops on your hook.

2) dtr5tog or double triple 5 together: [yo hook 3 times, insert hook in the stitch indicated in the pattern, draw loop through, (yo, draw through the first 2 loops, leaving the next loops on hook)x 3 times] x 5 times in the same stitch. You have 6 loops on the hook; yo, draw through all 6 loops on the hook.
( In other words, you will make 5 unfinished double triple crochet sts in same st, leaving each time the last loop on hook, so at the end you'll have 6 loops on hook; yo, draw through all 6 loops on the hook. Put another way, you are turning 5 dtr’s into 1 stitch.)
