I find that Red Pandas are super adorable creatures! Each time I'm designing a new animal block, I love to read about that specific animal.

Did you know that the Red Panda is an endagered species with less than 10,000 left in the wild? I didn't knew before! That's such a shame! I hope humans will help conserving their habitat!

Maybe I can make a very small contribution by bringing awereness with this Red Panda C2C Square! I think it came out super cute and I hope you will love it as much as I do!

GAUGE: 6 C2C tiles = 10 x 10 cm (4 inches x 4 inches)

SIZE: the square is 25 tiles x 25 tiles and approx. measures approx. 15 inches X 15 inches (38 cm x 38 cm)

SUPPLIES :

  • yarn: Red Heart Super Saver ( yarn weight: Medium 4) in following colors:
    1. Light Blue for the background approx. 176.32 yds (161.5 m)
    2. White approx.42.65 yds (39 m)
    3. Black approx. 8.75 yds (8 m)
    4. Charcoal approx. 7.65 yds (7 m)
    5. Baby Pink approx. 1.09 yds (1 m)
    6. Buff approx. 22.96 yds (21 m)
    7. Red Heart Super Saver Stripes, colorway Latte Stripe 1 or 2 skeins
    8. I have deconstructed 2 skeins of the striped yarn, Red Heart Super Saver Latte Stripes because I thought the colors in the skeins are perfect for my red panda.
See the colorways I got in the picture below!

      Deconstructing yarn

The colorways of the deconstructed yarn are named by me by suggestion of a fellow crocheter in my crochet group on Facebook.

After deconstructing Latte Stripe yarn you will need the following colorways (see above the picture with the deconstructions of yarn):
      ~ Mocha, approx. 22.96 yds (21 m)
      ~ Mocha Light, approx. 12.02 yds (11 m);
In the picture above there is only Mocha listed, because I have took them both as one color at first, then seppareted them in 2 colorways, because there is a bit of a difference in shade.
      ~ Cinnamon, approx. 37.18 yds (21 m)
      ~ Sandstone, approx. 9.84 yds (21 m)

Note: You could totaly replace the Red Heart Super Saver Buff colorway with the Latte colorway obtain from the deconstructed yarn. You could also replace the Mocha and Mocha Light with the Chestnut colorway for the darker parts on panda's face and around the head.

  • 5.5 mm crochet hook (I have used Furls Wooden Hook, Cocobolo)
